NUTRITIONAL THERAPY

Good nutrition underpins good health. Whilst there are the obvious principles that apply to everyone, our individual nutritional needs are as unique as our fingertips so what suits one person may not necessarily be the best option for another.

Why Nutritional Therapy?

Today’s hectic and convenient  lifestyle does little to promote healthy eating, albeit we are all too aware that we should be taking an active role in eating an energy-rich diet for optimum nutrition. Nutritional Therapy considers the individual as a whole. The aim being, to achieve a diet which maximises on the optimum amounts of nutrients from food and supplement sources to promote cellular change within the body and improve general health.

Stress, prescribed /recreational drugs including antibiotics and environmental pollution all place extra pressure on our body’s systems, increasing demands for nutrients whilst impairing our ability to digest, absorb and use nutrients from food.

Nutritional Therapy may be beneficial in:

  • Digestive complaints such as IBS, indigestion, constipation, bloating,
  • Skin problems, including eczema, psoriasis
  • Hormonal imbalances leading to PMS, PCOS, endometriosis, fertility issues
  • Easing symptoms of menopause
  • Cardiovascular concerns for example high blood pressure or abnormal cholesterol levels
  • Weight problems
  • Poor nervous health showing as depression, insomnia, anxiety, tension
  • Allergies & intolerances
  • Stress-linked illnesses
  • Increasing energy levels
  • Preparing for, and staying in healthy during pregnancy
  • Choosing the right foods for infants and children
  • Prevention of health concerns for men & women

What can I expect?

Prior to the consultation you will be required to complete a confidential and thorough Health and Lifestyle questionnaire. Upon seeing Sabra an individual nutritional programme is developed that is achievable and fits in with your lifestyle. Foods that you enjoy and find appealing will be taken into account; feelings of deprivation should be minimal. Advice is offered regarding nutritional supplements, lifestyle management and other beneficial complementary therapies.

Where necessary laboratory tests may be suggested, either to support diagnosis or to monitor the effectiveness of the treatment plan. These may be hair, blood, saliva, urine or stool tests.

How long before I see benefits?

Some people feel improvements within 4-6 weeks however, full benefits may not be seen for over 6 months if the recommendations are followed.
